ANybody watch this show? I am not a Harley guy, I've has more than a dozen "import" bikes in my day. But I just love this show. I've even considered coming up with my own theme Harley. I can believe I just said that. Power of the Paulies.

I watch just to catch one of the most dysfunctional families I've ever seen portrayed in fact or fiction. Old Paul is a sick lazy grunt whose only function is to demean his son's, and then take credit for what he had absolutely nothing to do with!

Paul Jr. is so beaten down and "papa whooped" that he's a mere flailing/insecure guy with so many hang-ups, he can't tell dad how he really feels.

He may have the potential talent for designing/building bikes (I haven't seen much of it yet), but he'll never amount to anything until he separates from the family biz.

Yep, I've seen every episode since the series premiered, but I guess I'm watching for a different reason. I want to see the young Paul strike out on his own.

Wonder where dad would be then?

I have seen this show a few times.
I see dad berating the young Paul way too much. The bikes are cool but there is never enough focus on the finished project. Except the one that Paul Sr gave to the kid that built it. That kid got treated way better than the son did. I didn't think that was very good.
I have come to the conclusion that I would never buy a bike built by those guys. The old man wants to cut too many corners. Jr spent a lot of time building a gas tank for that stealth chopper and all dad could do was bitch about how long it took. I could really identify with the son on that project. Full tilt from scratch custom work takes a long time to do, yet dad thinks they need to keep some kind of short time schedule. Cut corners to keep on schedule. He would never work on anything for me. I would rather have a bike take a year to build than have things slopped together to stay on schedule.

Are these guys back east? I always think of Orange county CA, but I get the impression that this Orange county is somewhere else.

Paulie Jr. is an artist to the max. His hand made bikes are always from scratch and so perfect when complete. I think the father son thing is for ratings more than anything. You have to remember that the one hour of bitching is edited from weeks that it takes to build the bikes.
Also Paulie Jr. no's how to push his dads buttons. The funniest stuff is the other son thats always got the short pants on, even in the snow.

Well, Tom...I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It comes down to:

Would I buy one of these bikes?

Nope

Would I want to be seen in public on one of these bikes?

Hell no...

BTW, they build at least 150 bikes/year. The bikes you see them build on TV are just novelty jobs for the series and their bike shows in Daytona, etc.

Thanks RickG.

I like Harleys, a lot of people at work have them. I may have to get one also. I have wanted one for over twenty years, but never dedicated the money for one.

I suppose it could be true about dads behavior being for ratings. He sure is good at having a bad attitude.

I love Harleys as well, Mr.PD. I'm just trying to shed a little light on the "sho-biz" element of the tv series.

Hey, I dig it! It's almost as addictive as "All My Children"...

Just teasin', dude!
