Ambient Acoustics just received my MH335DW to be reshell and they will add the metal resonator to the high frequency driver.
The communication is good with them and they were very patient with me (I took a bit of time between the inquiry and the shipping).

So far, so good :).

Here are some news from my Fitear MH335DW reshell. Ambient Acoustics got them on the May 31 and finished the reshelling yesterday. They expect to ship them out by the end of this week.

They kindly offered me to add a metal resonator in the high frequency driver in order to increase the linearity of such frequency. It was a choice they gave me, and if someone want to reshell their product without having one, they can do so. I accepted and asked if I could have the graph of the before/after and they delivered with explanation.

Without further ado:

Can't wait to try them :).

I've got my reshelled/modified 335 yesterday. I'll try to talk about the sound next week, when I'll have more listening time but so far I'm impressed. The fit is perfect and the isolation is top notch. I'm an happy customer :).

Ambient Acoustics  first implementation of the new model AM5LAM in custom acrylic shells! For the user, there are three position bass level adjustment 0, +6, +10 dB. the bass level adjustment is not made due to changes in the electrical load on the amplifier! In any position headphone impedance curve is practically unchangeable! Thus, it is 3in1 earphones, closed ports -monitor sound with a slight inforse on the LF (approximate sound signature FitearMH335DW), the middle position + 6dB - musical sound (the sound analogs Merlin (UM), + 10dB - boosted bass ( analogs Monet17, JH13). The monitor is implemented optional expansion HF with metal resonators, phase and impedance correction to reduce the influence of the amplification path to the final frequency response, as well as threaded connectors production Ambient Acoustics! appearance monitors made Steampunk, which is awesome way emphasizes the mechanics of the adjusting elements!

J13 doesnt have much bass.

I don't have a lot of free time at the moment, so my impressions about the modified MH335DW are going to be brief, at least for now.

Build quality: a couple of very small bubble that can only be seem upon really close inspection, otherwise it's top notch. The build is definitely way better than the other full acrylic I used to have (Earsonics SEM-6). The metallic tube bore is really big, so the other bore seems really small and could be harder to clean later on.

Cable synergy: I have the standard fitear cable and an hybrid forza. I dodn't think the hybrid forza pairs well with it, the bass lose all it's impact.

Contact with Ambient Acoustics: It was nice, I used mostly facebook to contact them and the website to chose my design. It didn't take more than a day to get a reply and they were always helpful.

Isolation and fit : Perfect. It beats the Ei.xx I had with ease in this department and I find it to isolate even more than my H8Pro (this makes me wonder if I'll ask for acrylic with silicone filling in my H8.2).

Sound. Definitely warmer than what I used (H8P) but it was to be expected and it's clearly not dark as hell as the S-EM6. The reason I sold my Ei.XX was because I liked the sub-bass but felt that the "regular" bass was lacking. Here's we got a really good bass, I love the blend of impact and quality. You usually can't get both, like the H8P have a really nice control and definition but lack impact. Here the definition is under H8P but still good and with a really nice impact. I like it a lot. The mids are a bit recessed for my taste, but it's definitely something I can live with, probably due to the bass being so prominent and extending a little bit on the mid.  But don't get me wrong, the bass don't overpowered everything and the mids and high have a god definition too. I'm glad I went with the resonator upgrade because I don't have any issue with the high frequency and I don't find them to be "too much" with them and they certainly have a nice touch. I experienced no sibilance as of yet and they are not a fatiguing CIEMs. The soundstage is on the rather intimist side but the imaging s fairly good so I have no issue with it.

So bottom line, I'm happy with my purchase, thank you Ambient Acoustics!

Vince, could you compare sound of original MH335DW and modified by AA?

Jul 2, 2016 at 4:20 PM Post #25 of 123
I cannot. I heard the original twice, once from a fellow French who had bigger ear than I so I couldn't listen them for long, and the second time was from the pair I have before the resell. With "decent" seal (aka putting my hands on the iem and slightly pushing), remember the bass having the same kind of sound but I really can't talk much about it.
