Am I the only one?

Does anyone else find the ever-present Direct TV ad on this forum really annoying. I sometimes browse this forum when at work and I am always worried that somebody is going to walk up and see me looking at a forum with a bikini clad banner across the top of the screen and assume the worst.

There was a pretty good sized thread about that in the Member's lounge a few days ago, but it mysteriously disappeared. All I can say is it shall be missed.

That thought had occurred to me, too (he typed on his keyboard at work).

I appreciate the sponsorship of Head-Fi, but that particular image looks kind of cheesey in my office environment (he typed, choosing to ignore that fact that he really shouldn't be reading Head-Fi threads so much at the office).

X100! I was just thinking the same dang thing last week!! Sheesh! I had to mention that I was looking at an audio forum, but all I got was blank stares (yeah, right!)

I assume they're paying big bucks to dominate the ad board!?

I'm the same way. I was going to suggest what goes on at a board I used to visit... if you donated to the forum you got the view the site ad free. I would be all about that. I'd pay a decent stack of clams to not see banner ads.

My Explorer seems free from it too though, which is nice

I havent seen such advertisement bar either. Or is it a popup? Mozilla has basic popup blocker built-in, so that might be the reason.

Its not a pop-up, its a banner ad for Direct TV that has a picture of a woman in a bikini laying down across the top of the screen. I dont mind banner ads...I mind THIS banner ad; its horrible. Not mention that the content of the ad has NOTHING to do with Direct TV.

I tried deleting my cookies to see if maybe my machine would cache a different banner ad and I would never have to see it again...no luck.

Then I thought, hey, if I click on it, maybe a different ad will show up next time....so get this: I CLICKED ON IT AND THE FREAKIN' LINK DOESN'T EVEN WORK!!!

In the other thread I was talking about earlier, we discovered that the DirectTV ads mainly appear for users in the USA. They seem to vary from country to country, if they appear at all.
