alternatives to Beyerdynamic DT250s

Recently bought a pair of the 80 ohm version. Terrifically comfortable, but they suffered from egregious channel imbalance, with the left driver nearly twice as loud as the right at some frequencies, so they'll have to go back.

Reluctant to go with another pair of the same once I get refunded, so I need a recommendation.

Here's what I'm looking for in order of priority:

    1) Closed, although isolation isn't so important, I can't guarantee I'll always be somewhere quiet when using them.
    2) Comfort.
    3) Neutral sound signature. I listen to ambient and contemporary classical and want to listen "without prejudice", as it were.
    4) Price... let's say ~$300, more or less. Could go higher.

    Recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

Did you check all the plugs? That sounds like something wasn't connected properly.
