Alternative to Vibes?

I can vouch for the Atrio M5. I've had mine for less than a week now, and they are just awesome. They are in that category of 'miles ahead of the Vibes'. I bought a pre-release pair directly from their site. If I remember correctly from the site, the retail once released officially will be $199. I think they're a bargain at that. They are just smooth and refined, with amazingly accurate but deep bass (which is a must for me). Do some searching for the atrio's and see what a few others are saying. I don't think you can go wrong with them though.

-Cheers.

Closest I've gotten are some counterfeit CX300s that sound horrible. I'll see if I can find a good deal on the real things.

Vulc4an, why dont you tey the creative ep-630's? (or even 635) since it is actually (practically) a rebadged cx300, and its incredibally cheap, you can just give it a go and see if you like it.

I actually have the creative ep-630, its got deep bass, but im not convinced by the rest of the spectrum (mind you im spoilt by the Shure e5).

Well, I've already got some nock-around phones [which is what the ep-630s would end up being]... I think I'd really like to get something a bit more high end.

The M5s do look really promising. I'm very close to ordering them.

Did you try the Super.fi 5 EB? I like them very much although they need taming and the fit isn't for everyone.

I'm not a fan of the design. The UM2 and the M5 both sit mostly flush to the ear.

Any IEMs will require some effort on the user's part for insertion and removal. Although you get faster and better with practice, they are still more bothersome than traditional earbuds. They do offer incredible isolation and detail to make up for the pain in putting them in and taking them out.

If you don't like the process of inserting and removing IEMs, then you can look at earbuds like the YK1/YK2 and the CX300. I personally own the latter and find them to be a bit bass heavy, but they are very comfortable and easy to use.

Do custom tips typically make insertion/removal less time consuming with true IEMs?
