Alternative to Norton Systemworks

My Norton systemworks are expired already. I've used karpersky as my antivirus software, however I still haven't found alternative to system tools/utilities software. I used Norton speeddisk, windoctor, diskdoctor, cleansweep. Any suggestion for better system tools/utilities software guys?

But seriously folks, there are free alternatives. There's also VCOMs SystemSuite (including the great PowerDesk).

Good luck with the uninstall of Norton. Deleting it has caused major problems on more than half the computers I've worked on...

I'd go with the free version of AVG
Zone-Alarm
& Ad Adare + Spybot
Windows Defrag

this is the combo i use.

however, i still have norton run weekly scans on the registry, etc to fix what it can find.

I use AVG Anti-Virus (the free one), and it's great. In fact, when I dumped norton and got it, it caught a virus that Norton missed, and I got a little system resource boost because Norton had been hogging resources so much.

I haven't really tested this fully, but the only problem with AVG free I think is that it doesn't seem to automatically zap viruses on the fly if you get them. Rather it just simply tells you that you've got a virus...and even then it can't seem to take care of it automatically until you do a full system scan. Those popups it does to tell you you're infected are the most annoying things ever, and there seems to be no way to suppress them. It's like "you got a virus!" WELL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THEN INSTEAD OF FLASHING AN ANNOYING BOX IN MY FACE!

And while it does seem to find more viruses than even Kaspersky and Norton, I can't help but wonder if AVG isn't just keeping an overbloated virus database that tells you you have things that may not even be all that harmful, just to make it appear to be a better product. Industry tests showed that it had a much lower virus detection rate (74%) than either Norton (95%) or Kaspersky (99%).

I've actually had good success uninstalling SystemWorks from both PCs. On one of them, I left WinDoctor and took off just about everything else.

As stated above, AVG is great, EzTrust by Computer Associates as well.
I use AdAware SE Plus Adwatch - I really like Adwatch, you just block the spyware in realtime.

I have used diskeeper on all my computers for a long time and im very happy with it.

I use Registry Mechanic for my periodic registry maintenace.

The Spybot & Adaware combo is free and works great for spyware.

I personaly use Kaspersky antivirus but install AntiVir to all my friend's computers because it is free and gets the job done.
