Are the Black Beauties said to be better than the Blue?

According to Thomas who has both, Alps Black Beauties are better than Alps Blues, although not as much as Alps Blue is better than Panasonic EVJ. Some online vendors claim this too and ask a large premium for Black Beauties, although some local stores still have a few left at good prices.

Does anybody have tried the small 9 mm Alps dual logarithmic pots (RK09712xxxxx series)? Are they quality ones? Alps says that they're designed for car audio.
