I purchased my first good set of headphones Mr.Speakers alpha dogs and a cheap amp the lepy 2020a.The lepy 2020a does not have a headphone output but an output for speakers.
I have speaker wire.an rca to 3.5 adapter, rca cable, electrical tape but am at a loss at how to make this work.Any input would be much appreciated.

In short: don't. You do not have the materials required to safely make any sort of adapter. You'd be much better off selling the Lepai and getting a cheap starter amp.

It would take cutting and splicing the greatest stock proprietary headphone cable in the history of audio, and would cost more than an amp if you wanted to replace that cable.

+1

Also, it's not even a Lepai. There really is a Lepy, which is a knockoff of the Lepai

Wow, the Lepai was already pretty cheap. I wonder what corners the Lepy cuts off...

The Lepy 2020a lists for $20 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Lepy-LP-2020A-Hi-Fi-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B00C2P61FO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441267344&sr=8-1&keywords=lepy+2020a

Seems like someone shot for the moon with the Alpha Dogs and didn't have anything left over for an amp. I like that in you; great headphones are the priority! Alpha Dogs are definitely major league and once you're properly amped up you'll have sonic bliss for years.

For now though you just have the wrong amp.

Just return it and get a cmoy for a bit more. It does well enough with the alpha dogs until you can get something better down the road.

So in short no I am better off getting a cheap amp with a headphone jack for the time being.

Well thank you for the input.

For the time being I am using them with the tritton ax720 base connected to my PS4.
