i don't know about June 1, 1974, but nico's debut album chelsea girl (1967) is awesome! i was just listening to this the other day. the song 'these days' from this album was featured in the movie the royal tenenbaums.

not everyone will like nico's voice, however. she was really a fashion model and not a singer. still, her voice is TOTALLY unique -- and how many people can you say that about 'these days?'
