Sorry if this has been posted, I wasn't sure how to word it to do a search.

When my Foobar is open, it seems as though ever other program's sound is disabled. Games, Ventrilo, Firefox, etc.. I'd assume its because I'm using a DAC.

Is this normal and is there a way around it? -I'd like to listen to more than one things at once..

Thanks!

Under the foobar device settings, look for the box that says "open device for exclusive access" and deselect it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

...... i can't find it.

Haha, sounds like it'd definitely work though. I've scoured through preferences many times.

Edit: I'm assuming its in 'Playback Devices', checking right when I get home.

I'm using WASAPI

I've unchecked 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device'.

It turns out that it is WASAPI. When I regular output, all the program sounds will work together. But when I select WASAPI as an out put, Foobar takes exclusive control of the DAC.

is WASAPI worth it?

wasapi is better than DS, and equally good compared to KS.

guess i didn't read what wasapi was..

WASAPI output support
By: Peter
Adds Windows Audio Session API exclusive mode output support, allowing bit-exact output and muting all other sounds on Windows Vista systems.

guess i'll just switch to wasapi during long listening sessions and switch back to DS when i'm playing games/vent/browsing... boo..
