I realize it's early in the season, but MAN! He is totally dominating the league in two, of the three, major batting catagories right now. The only catagory he isn't totally crushing the competition in is batting average, otherwise, take a look at these numbers compared to the person that is #2 in each catagory:

Batting Average:
1. A-Rod: .400
2. J. Mauer: .400

Home Runs:
1. A-Rod: 14
2t. J. Rollins: 7
2t. I. Kinsley: 7

RBI:
1. A-Rod: 34
2. J. Francoeur: 22

He's also going to surpass the 500 home run mark by the All-Star break...and he'll be the youngest player to do so!

He is an amazing player! I don't care what some of the nay-sayers say about him. We'll be watching history take place throughout the rest of his career.

Too bad the Yanks have no bullpen, or they might actually win some of these games where Mr. Big Money hits two out. Hopefully the rest of A-Rod's career doesn't parallel that of his former Seattle teammate who many though would eventually surpass 755. A-Rod seems a lot better put together than him, though.

i'd much rather see A-Rod knocking the cover off the ball than Bonds. if only that jackass would stop hitting homers... he doesn't deserve to break The Hammer's record.

on another note, nice to see that Frenchy is #2 in RBIs.

Everyone only hates Bonds because he's good and he doesn't smile and giggle for the media, so the media portrays him in a negative light. C'est la vie.

^ Or that he dresses like a Gladiator and hogs the plate. Can't argue against that swing though. Watching him sit on a change up is a thing of beauty.

I remember when Griffey Jr. was the latest going to torch Aaron's record. A-Rod is off to a good start, but there's a long way to go.

That was what I was thinking - four straight losses for the Yanks.

I agree, I usually don't trust the media's portrayal of people...
It's kinda like when there's a hot girl that doesn't talk to anyone at school and everyone thinks she's stuck up...but in reality, she's the nicest girl you'd ever meet but she's just shy.
I know, Bonds probably isn't the nicest individual in the world, but probably not as bad as people think. I think he's just private.

I respect A-Rod's talent. But it was still great fun to see him angrily mouthing "He's got nothing! He's got nothing!" in the dugout after Daisuke Matsuzaka struck him out twice on Sunday. Plus his grimace after Papelbon shut him down to win the game. When a man is that good, it's always enjoyable to see him have to struggle a little.

The difference between A-Rod and Griffey is the position they play in the field. Griffey used to bang himself up by making acrobatic catches in the outfield.
Also, A-Rod is on a much better pace to break Aaron's record. He turns 32 at the end of July...he'll be at 500 before that, easily. Griffey was 35 when he was sitting on 501 to start the 2005 season.

I'm a born Yanks fan and an A-Rod doubter, but I've never seen anything like what he's done so far this season. And though he'll have to cool off eventually -- he's currently on pace for 126 homers and 306 RBI -- I think he's on his way to a monster season overall. He actually looks like he's having fun playing baseball, something that hasn't yet happened for him in New York.

Maybe he's finally comfortable playing in NYC...or, he's playing for an even bigger contract for next year so he can opt out of his contract with NY after the season!

Maybe he'll go to the Red Sox!

I wouldn't blame him if he did. He's taken a beating here from the fans and the press, and only deserved, oh, half of it.

Besides, can you imagine what he could do with the Monster? Scary.
