I still can't believe how much I love my Alessandro MS1. So much fun and perfect for metal. I find i reach for them way more often then my Shure SRH840.

I think I am a beginner Gradophile. Best $99 I ever spent.

I seriously cannot get enough of these cans. Even to peoples dismay in public. I am one of those people who tend to use these on the go.

hi,
Which are the models sold in Alessandro.com page, "i" or "non-i"?
Shipping rates to Europe are included from Alessandro.com web store? I try to buy it and in Paypal page there are no shipping rates...
Any other site to buy this headphones in Europe?
Thank you!!

Guys,

I heard the Grado SR225is and loved them, and I'm in a situation where I can get a MS1 and a decent dac/amp(E10 maybe?) for a similar price or less.

Which is better? Have only heard the MS1s briefly though, my friend liked them however.

On another note, are they only good for rock/metal? While they sounded excellent with these genres, I also listen to quite a bit of everything else. Are they "specialists" in that regard?

I'd go for the SR225. They're on a whole new level. The differences between a MS1/SR80/60 and a SR225 become very apparent when you pay
close attention. Besides, amps and DACs can come later. Grados don't need serious amplification.

I'd say the opposite, but I'm a bit biased towards my MS1is, and having a nice amp/DAC is pretty sweet, and you can always mod the MS1is later on.

I have to be honest that I enjoy mine more for non-rock/metal (and I listen to a LOT of metal), just because of the clarity and instrument separation.  Not to say they don't do metal well - Blind Guardian's 'A Twist in the Myth' is godly through them, and even lo-fi black metal sounds great, however, Yo-Yo Ma's rendition of 'The Ecstasy of Gold' is literally the best-sounding thing I have ever heard.

But good DAC is always welcome :)

Most definitely.

But headphones/transducers make the biggest difference in the audio chain, imo

Just won an auction for a new set on Ebay. Really, really pleased. Sold my home theatre system and have now gone and put together a really nice stereo setup for my large bedroom instead.

Alessandro MS1
Cambridge DACmagic
Dussun T6 integrated amp
Shanling SCD-S300
Paradigm Titan V.6 Monitors

Now all i need to do is find a nice second hand fm tuner and it'll all be sweet as. Cant wait for high level audio instead of the **** that emanates from the combination of my computer speakers and the surround sound setup in the lounge room.
