Arrrrgh, they sound good, but the material covering the transducers is chafing my ears - very painful and hot. Makes the headphones uncomfortable. I tried putting my PX100 pads inside the bowls (I dont seem to have a problem with the bowls specifically, just the transducer-covering-material) and that helped heaps. But after that, they sounded muffled and horrible. I was planning to do the sock mod and stocking mod to see if it helps. Any other ideas/experiences?

You mean that the white that covers the drivers touch your ears and that is causing the discomfort?

If so, what I would do is get a pair of senn pads and do the vwap mod but with smaller holes than usual.

And I just saw you're a newbie so I'm going to discribe what and how to do it for you. This post will be editted soon.

edit-

Get a pair of these pads http://shop.sennheiserusa.com/retail...ct_prod=019545

If you're not from the US you can order them from your local Sennheiser dealer instead.

These pads will fit the ms-2s. the sound will change a bit but IMO for the better.
You can dye them black with dye for clothes if you like or keep them yellow.

Normally people mod these pads by cutting a hole in them. You put a coin in the middle and cut around it. The coin should have a diameter of 1 inch or a bit bigger. The fact that the white whatever-it's-called scratces your ears means that your ears are smaller than average. They shouldn't touch the white at all. So I suggest you mod the sennheiser pads but make the holes smaller than what people usually do so your ears won't touch the white and there's still a hole that lets the details and clearity trough. If you think the holes are too small and muffle too much you can always make them bigger later on.

Also if you bend the headband out a bit the pressure on your ears will be less and maybe that will prevent your ears from touching the white whatever-it's-called. Bending out the headband is very easy and most grado users do it and you can always bend it back as it's just a metal band in the leather headband.

I hope this helps.

Thank you SO much! I'll try and get a pair of the pads soon and do the mod. Any tips to get a perfectly round cut when cutting the hole in the pads?

Perfectly round, no, don't know how.
This is what I wrote in another thread about getting the best results:

You can't because you're pressing it down hard but that way the hole will be rounder. And then you'll have a hole.

This is how it turned out:

How old are your MS-2s? if they're new you'll find the band stretches quite a bit over the first few weeks which places less pressure on your ears. this might aleviate your problem.

If they're old however, the senn pads look like a good idea

im finding sort of the same thing with my MS-2 aswell, my ears are completely covered by the bowl pads, after extended use they chafe a little bit and i have to take them off and put them back on again, im quite sure that the pads will wear down a bit, I was always going to get a pair of flats eventually ... might have to sooner.

About a week? I bent the headband outwards, it just seems the bowls aren't a good fit for my ears now...They pinch the edges and the white-covering-stuff is painful too.
