Does anyone else have a problem with the dye from standard Alessandro / Grado comfies coming off? I've only used them a couple of times, but each time they've left a large black circle on the side of my head

. And don't just say "use bowls / flats"

The comfies do leak. I had some on my ears, and on my yellow senn pads. (I placed the senn pads on top of the comfies and put the phones on my ear. Bigger soundstage, but treble was painful as hell)

Sorry to revive this dead thread but this is exactly the question I have. I just bought some very lightly used comfies from another member and sprayed them with disinfectant before I used them (no offense meant

) and noticed that my hands were black. They look so much like the Senn 414 pads that I doubted for a moment that I had actual Grado pads. Anyone else have this problem?

Mine haven't caused any problems and my 414's are still the funky Senn yellow!

If they're bleeding dye then i suggest you just wash 'em with some hand soap in warm water and leave them to dry naturally

I’ve never had any problems with the Flat Pads or the Bowl Pads.

I routinely wash my ear pads by hand in warm water with some shampoo. Kinda squish the water through, changing the water often, then do a couple of rinse cycles / squishes. Then finish them off by pressing them in a clean towel to remove excess water. Lean them together to dry for a few hours and they are as good as new.

I think it softens them up a little also.

That's good to know

. I got some flats from Todd last week, and I found them very uncomfortable compared with the comfies - maybe I'm finally experiencing the legendary Grado discomfort at last? I think I'll try washing the flats to see what happens...

I did that when I dyed my senn pads and they don't colorbleed.

I heard that also (not from your mom

) and tried it. It didn't work for me. That's when I moved on to the commercial color fixative I mentioned.
