AKG certainly won't break my bank if the price of the K872 is above $899.00 MSRP. I will simply opt for the Focal Elear or save up for the MrSpeakers Ether Flow. I know the aforementioned alternatives are both open back HP's but as the K812 is described now I know it's not something I'm willing to gamble on.

Described by whom?

The specs say it is only 2dB less sensitive than the K550, so it may be loud enough for non European phones.

This could be a killer portable headphone (if you don't mind the stares)

Well it would seem that AKG has already gone there with the 812.

One of these days I'm going to have to look up "soon" in the dictionary to find out what it means.

Dear all,
Just repeating the above question..  “no-one heard the 872 yet ” ?

Or even more in depth:  Anyone compared them to the other  “top-end close back models” , such as the Audeze, the new “Ether Flow C” - or any others ?
(I would have hoped,  somebody at the London CanJam may be in such a position )

Thanks & regards
Urs
