Maybe that's because they are made by Beyerdynamic? As I understand it he has stated earlier, that the Beyerdynamic top models are so flawed, that they are not suitable for review...

OK, the old AKG K1000 Flagship is discouinted, and we all waiting for the new AKG K2000? (nomax sexy avatar), meanwhile they
released new flagships AKG K812 and now AKG K872 that should be the new flagship, but they also have the AKG N90Q, so is the AKG K872 is improvment over the AKG N90Q? but hey i wait for the new AKG K2000 or whatever name it will be called.

I thought Heinz who developed the K1000 30 years ago is retired for many years, isn't he?
I wonder is that guy from AKG prefer the K872 over Ether C or not... If the K872 is better it will be an amazing headphone but I hardly believe that.

As a very enthusiastic K812 owner I'm super stoked this is happening. I just hope it isn't more bass-heavy as the K812 is already slightly too heavy/too fun, for its intended use as a reference monitor.

A tiny upswing from 1k-2k would be welcome from the k812

Maybe you should stop reading and speculating and start listening before making these asinine comments.

i thought the AKG K812 was the best sound signature of any headphone, that I would place in the "bass-heavy" category. I prefer it to the newest gen sennheiser HD800's, and other much more expensive planar high end phones.

I could go for maybe just a hint less sweet bass harmonics if possible (I know is a big task for closed phone), and a hint more presence from 800hz to just before 2k.

Then it would be perfect.

I would tend to agree. I haven't heard the HD800s but am not going to shell out another $1800 to find out that they just moved the goalposts.

There are seemingly a lot of deaf people (or people with hearing damage) reviewing headphones out there. You need to audition. There's nothing to correct IMO.

Like the AKG K712, you need to feed this with a warm sounding DAC and a transparent solid state amp to remove that edge / digititis. IMO, that edginess is just the limitation of the DAC that is being fed to it. It's meant for studio use so any limitations of your audio equipment and the music file itself is revealed without any coloration. Now plug it up to a warm sounding DAC like the Bifrost / Gungnir Multibit and those edginess in upper mids / lower trebles are eliminated completely while sounding realistic.
