Hi everyone. I'm having a really hard time choosing between these two headphones; sennheiser hd 598 and akg q701.
Usage purpose is; game and film. -It's music performance doesn't matter at all as i have another headphone i'm using which is better for music.-
Which has a wider soundstage and better bass(i know they both have weak bass but one should be inferior to the other right?)
I know it's easy to drive hd 598.But i'm not sure if the same goes for q701. Could astro mixamp handle it and utilize its all potential? I'm giving it as an example. I actually have a sony brand amp which is better but similar to mixamp.

I have to decide in a few days so prompt reply would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance. :)

Save a few dollars.
Sennheiser HD558, used $94 (Amazon).

The Q701 has the better positional accuracy when it comes to surround sound gaming. The HD598 has a warmer sound. If you throw in an extra $60 to get the K702 Anniversary Edition pads for your Q701, the bass will be much better. Otherwise, they're pretty similar.

I play on console.
The amp is an old one.You probably haven't heard of it. 'DP-1000'.

Hd598 has a very weak bass, how come it has a warm sound?

Can't find a lot of info on the Sony DP-1000, but it looks like the mix-amp would not really offer any real advantages over the DP-1000.

I'm assuming your connecting to the console using optical and have Dolby enabled in the consoles audio settings?

Yes,not much info on the internet. It's main advatage over the mixamp is,it supports dts which is not important for games but crucial for films.
I'm using optical as you assumed.
