AKG K81DJ PROBLEMS!

Try replacing the plug. If that doesn't work, get them recabled. If that doesn't work, then the driver has a problem.

How old are they? Most likely they are still under AKG's factory warranty. They are usually really great about repairing things (as with most Harman brands). Check out AKG START and contact them for more information, they would know better than anybody here probably would, after all, they made them!

this has happened about 7 or 8 times on my k81s (no joke). every time i've taken them back to the store i got them from to be replaced, and every time they come back the same problem occurs. The most recent happened today in fact.

problem is i cannot recable **** myself, and the store wants to charge me 50+ dollars to have a sturdier jack put on them.

the jack on my K81dj has done this too. Seems like it's a real problem with this phone. I would find a DIY'er here on the forums to send them to to have them either recabled, or just a new jack put on, and you can shorten the cable while you're at it

(and put blu-tak in the inside of the cups if you haven't already)

where do i even get a new plug? radioshack?

It's pretty easy. It takes me about 5 minutes at the most.

Yes, if you want it quickly. You can get better plugs online though.

BTW, if you can't/don't want to do it, I'll do it for the cost of parts and shipping both ways.
