I purchased these a while back.

Sound - good!
Fit - perfect, after bending the headband!
Silver plastic details - Ugly, never liked it (and the K518DJ was not available).

If you think the same and plan to paint it black, please learn from my mistake and use less adhesive tape or remove the pads beforehand. I did not even use duct tape, just medium adhesive tape. It was easily removed from the outside without traces, but had kind of reacted with the pads.

Result below.

Tape on,

So.. you really painted the 'phones with the pads still on? What were you thinking?

Well, below the cushion there is a part that looked like it would dislike to be taped over. Initially the tape would barely stick to the ear pads and I thought the 'leather' would be fine and did never expect it to react with the the tape as it did...

The lessons did not come cheap: just got word it will be ~ 30 euro parts+shipment!

Haha, well, mine already come in black ( K518DJ ), now you're forced to buy new pads eh. Going for the velour?

Thanks, sent the guy a pm so maybe he still has them ^^
Any clues on what difference the velour pads will do? Better/worse isolation, for instacne? "k81 AND + velour" of course gave 273 hits on topic title only so gave up that one xD

Well, I read that the added comfort goes with the cost of a little isolation, but I can't really tell, for I don't have the velours myself.
