The common wisdom seems to be that these are the same headphone. But I stumbled upon a thread here (http://www.head-fi.org/t/477809/akg-k81-dj-vs-akg-518-dj-limited-ed) that indicated otherwise. Can someone explain the difference between the two frequency graphs (for a layman) and/or tell me their personal experience with both?
 
I have the option of buying the K81DJ for $41 (+$5 for cable turtle since length is long) or the K518LE for $75 (no cable turtle needed). I want to know if the K518LE is worth the $29 jump in price.

i heard both and i can say that they are just the same. the k81 only has one color and it has longer cables while the k518 goes with different colors and it has a shorter cable. everything else are the same, even the sound.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That is good news. I'm no audiophile so if they are similar (or the same) then saving $29 sounds good to me.

For what it's worth, I've seen the K518 around for as little as $35.
