Got the itch to spend money on some new cans. Luv my DT770's. My HD650's are not getting any playing time. Wes Phillips keeps raving about the 701/702's and Headroom seems to think very highly of the Denon AH-D2000. These are at similar price points. Help a brother out and tell me which to buy.

I'm sure you read about both. You won't find that much bass in your K70X. Could be nice to compliment your DT770s. The D2000 supposedly has much more bass. Haven't heard them.
The K70X and D2000 differ a lot from each other. What do you want from your new headphones?

I'd take the Denons. (And an age-old rivalry is re-ignited--Howdy-do, majkel.)

Although, the K702 would make a nice open alternative to your DT770.

Hmmm . . . on second thought, given that you already own a respectable pair of closed headphones, I'd take the AKGs.

(The cease-fire continues. Bye-bye, majkel.)

: )

Mo Bass would be nice but I am not a bass head. Neutral and balanced is always preferable to me.

"Neutral and balanced" bespeaks the K702! The AKG can go deep and stay well-controlled in the bass department, too. In fact, I never "wanted" for ample bass when I owned the K701. : )

I think the DT770 plus K701 would make a very nice pair. The size of the soundstage of the K701 is impressive and for the prices they are going for, an incredible bargain.

Wonder if folks preferring the AD2K are listeing to stock cans or have they been markl modded. I realise I am talking about 2 totally different cans here and closed vs. open. I have really been enjoying my DT770's but a couple of print media reviewers have really gone GA GA over the 701/702's and Tyl is high on the AD2K and supposedly they have the same drivers as the AD5K. Tried listening to my HD650's the other night and only lasted one song and I put the DT770's back on. Why did Beyer quit making the Dt770 that I have with the blue/grey plastic and cups. I think they are the most neutral/balanced can I have ever listened to. Only complaint is that the top end can get a little sizzley or ragged at times.
