I'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about online merchants here but I'd like to respond and say that I bought my K701 from Abes of Maine and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase (the retailer, the price, and the product).

QFT. If you only have a $250 budget for cans + amp, these might not be the best choice. If you have a $500 or higher budget for cans + amp (or already have a good headphone amp), then you're starting to look good.

Keep in mind that the K701 are notoriously hard to drive, requiring high quality amplification to sound their best. I always found it kind of funny that the K701 are so relatively inexpensive and we follow up our purchases with 1000 dollar + amps to make them "sound their best." Makes me wonder whether we own our gear or whether our gear owns us
