SOLD at ebay.

Mine AKG K501 (almost not used, like a new) are for SALE, but for a price of AKG K701, here: http://www.ebay.pl/itm/121048410147
I made too much effort (and money) to get it, therefore I can't sell it cheaper in such a perfect condition.

I like them, but I have to use sealed headphones and already have more high-end open which I also unable to use (listening in the night).
Having taste for electronic/instrumental/psychedelic music mostly, K501 are reveal too much simplicity of music of that kind - with K701 it's even worse, but they are more popular, so better reference headphones for me, to test "compatibility" with my DIY components.
For quite a few old jazz albums I use to listen to, I sometimes use worn and current driven only DT770 Pro 250, old Stax SR-Gamma only driven by modded SRM-1, or Sony MDR-CD3000 sometimes current driven also,.... but not SR-007, HE-6, K501 or K701 because they show too much flaws in these recordings.
My K501 are for sure not burned-in yet, so selling it is probably a mistake.

Works very well for me, softer, more comfy, soundwise still awesome when I listen to Anner Bylsma

I've tried K601 pads on the K501 (I believe the version I had was V1 at the time). Honestly the sonic difference was not that big. They are much much more comfortable but I never had issues with the stock K501 pad comfort, and the K601 pads cost me something like $40-50 direct from AKG, which is a little too much for not enough benefit. I think I've written something about the sonic differences somewhere on the forum.

EDIT: went back and read some of my old posts in this thread. tdockweiler doesn't like the K601 pads on the K501 but I never said anything negative about it.

Hi Ikarios. I also read an article on Headfonia where the author didn't like k501 with k601 pads because of, as he says, a boomy bass. I think I will wait with this "upgrade"

Everybody has his own experience of course, but a boomy bass

I'm not buying it

I also think something is fishy with the article on Headfonia. I have tried the pads from my k701 on the k501 and think that, although there are certain differences, the sound is not necessarily worse compared with the stock pads. I doubt that k601 pads could make such a "dramatic" difference,
