I bought these recently, they are showing their age.
When i took the pleather pads off and opened up the outside cup,
The black foam on the inside of the cup is basically decomposing.

This has to replaced for sure, Also the cable is very limp showing its age.

Id love to recable these while im at it..

My main question is, Id love to send these to a fellow head-fier that would like to check them out for me.

Im also happy to send them to get a Blue Dragon V2.
Im not sure if this is the best option for them.

Im realy not sure what to do,
I dont realy want to send them to AKG.

But im open for any suggestions at all.

BIG thanks in advance,
Jim*

hmm the cabling you cou do yourself, same with the insulation foam. these are both very easy DIY projects.

Id tackle the task myself, but the only DIY ive done before was a mini-mini.

And that was a hassle to say the least.
Plus getting decent cables and other parts within helsinki CBD
is non-existant.

most parts would have to be ordered. I wouldnt end up saving a great deal.
And I dont realy want to mess these K280's up.

I could fix that foam easy enough, but the re-cable scares me.

Give it more than two hours. The K280 is a pretty uncommon model.

Your safest bet is probably to PM Fitz, who not only probably knows more about the model than anybody else here, but can probably do the repairs and upgrade you seek.
