I just recieved a pair of AKG K260s yesterday and I like them. They remind me of the Grado SR80s I used to have but with more detail and more soundstage but retaining the Grado-like sound signature.
I think some more performance could be had from these phones though.
I was wondering who you guys would recommend to get these recabled by? Preferably someone on this site, because I know Head-Fiers generally charge less for services like this, but are still incredibly proficient.
I was also wondering if anyone has modded these or AKGs similar to these?
I wouldn't mind sending these to a modder to have them experimented on, as long as they sound good afterwards!
I was thinking that if the back of the phones (the faceplates) were replaced with a metal mess screen of some sort it would open up the soundstage a bit and get rid of the backwash of the plastic faceplates.
