I am wondering what is the difference of these headphones. I believe they are both known to be mid-centric headphones. Home use only.
 
What are your opinions on:
 
The bass (quantity AND quality)?
What are the strengths and weaknesses?
Difference between amped and unamped?
How the vocals compare to each other?
Which genres do you think fit the headphone best?
Soundstage?
Is it a fair price? (K240 can be bought for around $79-$89, and DJ100 is a roller coaster $50-$79)
If there is anything better around the $50-$100 price range, what would you recommend?
How revealing is the K240 with low bitrate files?

The AKG  are open and have more detail, bigger soundstage. The Koss are closed and have a more bassy, warm, coloured sound. I THINK the AKG might have better mids then the Koss but I'm not sure about this.
 
So the AKG might be better for studio monitoring, gaming, classical music. The Koss might be better for music, single player gaming, and movies.
 
It's more of personal preference, though.
 
Also check out the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S which is similar to the ProDJ but not as refined. It's much cheaper too

Can't reply to all your questions but...
 
The K240 Studio has more mid-bass and less treble. DJ100 probably has more forward mids. Both are quite non-fatiguing.
I'd say level of detail between the two is about the same. Both would improve in this area with a good source like a computer DAC.
 
My K240 Studio barely gets enough volume from my Ipod Touch making it almost worthless to use without an amp. The DJ100 is pretty good with my Sansa Clip+
 
Believe it or not, I think the DJ100 with M50 pads has a better soundstage than the K240, as long as it's being used with a desktop amp and DAC.
 
Based on memory I think the K240 Studio is warmer. It's very, very good for male vocals especially.
 
(note: i've had both for several years. My K240 Studio is kind of collecting dust)

the k 240 doesnt have much sub bass or treble but has very airy natural sounding lower mids, i think they're some of the best guitar headphones ive tried

I like the K240 more IMO. The 240 are more laid back than the Koss. The koss are pretty darn aggressive. (I like both).

How you compare AKG k240 studio and Koss UR55? I am going to buy headphone for classical music, now I own Koss KSC75... Is UR55 much better then ksc75?
OR it is worth to spend more 50 $ and got myself K240?
 
OR Can you recommend this? it is little bit cheaper

The K240 Studio is the better headphone by far. Bass and sub-bass is a toss up, but the K240 does almost everything else better. Way more detail than the DJ100 to me.
 
The soundstage on the K240 blows the DJ100 with stock pads out of the water. I actually think most headphones are better than the Koss in soundstage. 
 
Rock, and classical music sound great on the K240. Rock, pop, and country music from the 50's-70's sound great on the DJ100. btw My girlfriend is a classical musician and she will only listen to classical music on the K240 Studio.

Thanks for this. I mainly listen to stuff like Electronic (Synthpop, Dance) and rock. Guitar Centers website says they have them in stock, but its a little far of a drive so I'm going to have to wait until my birthday next month. One thing I still wonder is how the vocals are on the K240. I used to have the DJ100 for about almost two weeks and wow the vocals were so clear.

Vocals are pretty even between the two headphones to me. 
 
I actually think the DJ100 would work better for electronic music. The bass might be a little more controlled with a little less or the same quantity on the DJ100. The K240 makes electric guitars sound wonderful so I'd pick it for rock music. I think the K240 is the richer sounding between the two. It would come down to preference in the end. 
 
Now the K240 Studio is one of the few headphones I own that sounds better when amped. The bass sounds more controlled and the treble sparkles more. I don't notice much of a change in sound when the DJ100 is amped. 
 
Hopefully you can demo the K240 Studio so you can decide for yourself. Both are good to great headphones, I just prefer the K240 Studio.for its comfort, soundstage, and natural sound.

I have one little last concern.. How does the K240 deal with poorly recorded music? I know the DJ100 sounds pretty bad with poorly recorded music.

the akg should be more revealing, so more or less worse
