I was actually looking into this myself today and saw this posted on the AKG forums:

"271 MKII is an update and has the same drivers(XXL Varimotion)/specs as the 271S, along with the 272 HD. Basically the 271 MKII are the same headphones, only a different color, "hint of blue" i hear. They all also have that auto shut off switch on the head band - when you pull them off your head, they magically mute themselves. Also, they (MKII) come with the velour and leather-like ear surrounds, the regular cable and the coiled one."

Hope that helps.

Most would have to reterminate it... looks interesting.

Edit: Detachable input cable with locking mini-XLR connector makes transportation and servicing easy

I need to read more throughly.

That's for a different headphone. There is a separate write-up on the AKG site for the new K240 MKII.
