I am the original owner of a pair of AKG K141s purchased in Asia while in the Marines. To my ears they still sound excellent. However, given their age is some kind of maintenance required? The foam around the war cups is excellent with no dryness or degradation. I know of a restorer in Brooklyn who gets very favorable reviews. Is it worth sending them to him for assessment. BTW, I have no tech genes at all, nor patience, so this can not be a DIY project. Secondly, while the phones don't have a mark on them, the silver discs which were glued to each ear cup have disappeared. Any suggestions where I can find replacements? Thanks for taking the time to read this

The badges might be hard to impossible to find,but thats just a semi-educated guess.
Old headphones can always use a little TLC of some sort,but im of the school of thought that goes something like ;

"If it ain't broken,dont screw with it"

On a side note you might look into getting yourself an AKG K240 sextett.The K141 uses the sextett driver,but lacks the six passive radiators that gives the sextetts the magic sauce. One of my alltime fav headphones.

BTW what are you using to drive the K141?

Thanks for your response. I use them with several systems: a mid-40s RCA-12222 tube amp with a Benjamin Miracord 50H TT (EAR 834P phono preamp); a 1949 Altec Lansing A-323B tube amp with built in pre-amp, and Thorens TD150 MKII AB TT; and a Mac MA5100 with Dual 1229 TT...about to add phono pre-amp to latter

Apologies for long delayed response. I use headphones with two stereo systems: a 1970 Pioneer SX9000 (original owner), a pair of Bozak B201 Sonora bookshelf speakers; McIntosh MCD 7000 CD player and Dual 1229 TT; and a Marantz 2252B, Rogers LS 3/5A speakers, and a 1970 Benjamin Miracord Elac 50H TT. Most of my gear is vintage tube mono and does not accommodate headphones (w/o a mod). I am still searching for K141 badges for ear cups. Thank you
