Does anyone know if theres a way to determine when my K1000s were made based on the serial number?

Also, does anyone have any info regarding engineering/design/materials changed over their history?

I'd like to know as well. Based on a thread that I read about the discontinuation of the K1000, someone mentioned that the last builds were only in the 12,000 range.

My Omega 2 says 71998, so theres at least 72000 O2 owners out there, which is possibly even more amazing.
