AKG K1000 vs AKG 701's? 701's closed-in by comparison.

I have been listening to the AKG k1000's via the Grace m902 for 2 months. Just for "fun" I decided to retry the &01's with the Grace. Thinks sound closed-in and slightly opaque. The tonal balance is more similar to waht I get with my Harbeth Monitor 30's.

Am I hearing a mismatch between the amp and the 701's? or is what I am hearing to be expected, given the K1000's?

Thanks,

Jay

Based on what my experience, what you hear is normal.

Don't *all* other cans also sound closed in compared to the K1000? You can't beat the open feeling of speakers hanging away from your ears.

Has anyone ever compared the K1000s to sitting directly between 2 high quality monitors pointed directly at your ears? Just wondering.
