AKG K 701 - I am excited
Oct 8, 2005 at 4:45 PM Post #121 of 210
After some initial impressions of the AKG K7/601 are shared on the site by users who currently own the HD650 Zu Cable Mobius I may decide to purchase one of the new AKG products. I want a headphone that has a very wide sound stage (think: Gallo's) but one with a lots of bass slam. The AKG K501 lacked the kind of bass performance I desire and will hold on my purchase of the HD650 and wait for early reviews of the K7/601. This may get exciting if the K701 has the bass I lusting for.

Cheers,
iDesign

I love my 880's, but I'm expecting that the AKG's will be do them one step better.

Yes, ...that's what I'm doing. Unless you intend to get both.

These do look very nice indeed. I hope that we will be able to pick them up way below MSRP on Ebay like Senn's.

man am i the only one who finds 62 ohms to be a strange number for the impedence?

also has anyone found out what the "storage cradle" is? im guessing they mean a box, but when i think cradle i think like PDA cradle so do they mean a headphone stand? (!) there are no pictures on AKG's site of it

The German site actually says it's a headphone stand (translated: headphone "base") for "stylish storage"

Heck..I'm really excited too.. However, unfortunately for me, my headphones budget is maxxed out for now...though, the K601 really do sound very tempting. However, realistically and practically, I'm really waiting for the K601 and K701 to come out and people start dumping their K501s and I'll pick one up then...

Can't wait!

Nah, I'm sure when the hype machine gets going on the 701's, you'll not want the 501's anymore.

I'm excited about the 701's personally, they look beautiful, and don't even come in a pizza box. And if they sound better than 501's (better bass), I will for sure be adding this to my collection.
