İs hugo better than 240ss ? What is your favourite dap ?

Yes the Hugo sounds better than DAPs, and among DAPs, the SS, 901, P1 and Lotoo all sound good, with different tastes. The 901 is the best to my taste but the form factor is a bit crappy.

I try lotoo but I don't like it after ak120.Soundstage is important for me and ak products provide wider soundstage than lotoo.What can you say about hugo's soundstage and 240ss's soundstage ?

I am just curious what they intend to bring to the game. Unless they can bring Hugo sound, not very interesting. We will see.
Besides, we are already far into ludicrous price points. I hate myself for the SS, but if they go above the 3k mark, it is going to become laughable.

Well they are not going to be able to bring Hugo sound in the next release. I am pretty sure of that. Because I am hooking the 240ss to my Hugo right now and I know how good it sounds. When I bought my AK240SS at Can Jam, I already knew that they are releasing a new model in May and I think they even told me or somehow I have the impression that it is going to be around us$3700 or $3800 range. But I am a sucker of good look. After I play with the 240ss, I just can't leave the show without it. In addition, AK was telling that they may not make any more SS model after they sold out the current stock. That makes me all the more want an exclusive model with great sound. Regardless of how the Ak380 sound, I know I will enjoy the 240ss for a long time. I got $300.00 off the show discount in addition to the limited edition, I think I am going to be fine if I want to sell it but that is a big if. The size is small with big sound. I like the extra weight of the 240ss, makes you feel like wearing a solid gold Rolex. especially after seeing the picture of the AK380, it makes me think that the 380 style is now wearing a skirt. Still I am very interest to hear impressions from the 380.

I also think Hugo sounds better than 240SS but one is a DAC and another a DAP.
Still my favorite DAP is 240SS with P1 in second place.

I feel the same way about my SS. I love the extra heft of the unit and the beautiful leather case.
 
Is this news of the 380 true or just a rumor? I've not heard about this before.

I'm real interested in what DACs it will be using and the onboard storage. The casing appears to be duraluminum.

I don't know if it's just the angle of the photo, but the 380 looks wider than the 240. If A&K is putting more onboard storage in the 380, it makes sense it may be bigger than the 240.

It definitely appears larger in that photo. I'm more interested in the internals, if it's bigger than the 240 I could live with it.

- What does the up arrow surrounded by half a circle (under the DAC) symbol mean?

I have almost 300 hours on my SS and the sound keeps improving. There is no question in my mind that it sounds better than my old 240. The trebles are articulated with such delicacy and sweetness ... truly addicting. I'm also noticing better dynamics, especially macro dynamics, as well as a greater sense of space.
 
As reported earlier in this thread, I'm delighted with my upgrade even with the release of the 380. I have no plans to upgrade even though the most recent news about the capabilities of the 380 is intriguing.
