Hey all-
Does anyone know if Airport Express is compatible with 24 bit 96khz files?

I streamed a 24 bit 96khz Apple Lossless file last night to my Airport Express, which is connected to a Sony receiver via optical. The display on the Sony said 44.1 khz, so I'm assuming the Airport Express downsamples the source files to 16/44.1

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks-
Kevin

AirTunes only support 16-bit/44.1KHz audio data.
Anything above that will be downsampled in iTunes before streaming over AirTunes to the AirPort Express.

No idea. Don't know the Audigy 4 at all...
But I know that the optical out on the current Mac's support 24-bit/96Khz (perhaps even 192Khz). While AirTunes, and hence AirPort Express as well, are limited to 16-bit/44.1Khz.
