I'm new to the audiophile world so forgive me if this is a silly question, but I was wondering if those airline attenuators, (ones that come with the headphones, the ones I have came with my UE TripleFi 10s) affect sound quality adversely.  My Klipsch Image S4s do not have a long enough cable to reach around my desktop to plug into my sound card directly so I plug them into the front panel headphone jack of my case.  However, there is always a static like sound, which I assume is some type of electrical interference, whenever I plug in my headphones into the front panel.  This noise is not present when I plug it into my sound card directly.  But if I use the airline attenuator, most of the static noise is eliminated or reduced to a barely noticeable level.  So my question, am I experiencing a loss of quality by using this attenuator?  Thanks for your help.
