They matched almost perfectly when I aligned them in Photoshop. No wonder they sound so alike.

pretty close, but the HD650 has a noticeably bigger midbass hump (which is definately audible). D5000 has deeper bass extension (look at the low bass). a few dB difference here and there is very audible. also, the Denons have more treble.

the measurements are a bit misleading because of microphone distance. you have to do several measurements and combine them. here is a more accurate measurement of the Denon D2000's bass response:

which is pretty flat as it should be. the measurements you posted more accurately measure the treble, though.

^ Yea, bass can be heavily effected by microphone distance, not as much as mids and highs can be.
