Aful Performer Impressions Thread

Anyone else notice the lack of vent in the Aful MagicOne? I'm liking the way it sounds, but the seal is causing slight ear pain on occasions. I'm also a little under the weather, so I'll probably let it sit for a while before making a decision.

Also I got them from HiFiGo on AliExpress. I've done plenty of returns to Amazon, but never AE. Will they let you do it after you open and audition IEMs?
I’m pretty sure there is a pressure release vent at the bottom of the earpieces 🤔 It does not feel increasingly uncomfortable like fully sealed IEM (pressure build up), but it’s more air tight than other AFUL.

Which ear tips are you using? Maybe a softer tips would help. Otherwise, Sancai tips tend to solve pressure problem pretty well.

Yeah I’m using the CP100 and like the sound I’m getting. The Sancai’s material is supposed to help with pressure right? I’ll check them out and see if they have a narrow bore option.

I use the Tangzu Tang Sancai Balanced eartips on my MagicOne IEMs. They fit nicely on the nozzles. The Tang Sancai eartips have a special texture on the umbrellas which prevents pressure buildup with the MagicOne and other non-vented IEMs.

I’ve seen a bunch of people confused about the brand of BAs Aful uses in the Cantor. They’re custom BAs. They said it here:

I also remember seeing an image somewhere of them making the BAs. Can’t remember where I saw it though.
Hope that clears up any confusion.

I think that they said that they developed or enhanced the BA drivers by implementing the multi-dimensional crossover design. It did say that the BA drivers were "chosen" which implies that off-the-shelf BA drivers were used. Anyway, this is my interpretation. I do think that Aful designs extremely good crossovers.

Probably, actually. Maybe I understood wrong.
I could've sworn I saw an image somewhere of them actually making them, but maybe it's some weird mandela effect thing. I don't know.

I think the drivers are likely Bellsing or the other BA company that AuR audio uses, possibly customised or built from scratch based on specs from AFUL. I remember they described the modifications they made to BA in the release material of magic one.

Ah yes. Another person has mentioned the custom BA drivers in the MagicOne. Anyway, who knows? Perhaps the mystery should continue for a bit since it is nice to have a bit of magic in these forums.

Is it normal that i need to have the BTR7 in High gain to move them ? i would think if they were defective it would only affect one of them.
hard to say whether your unit is defective or you just don't like the sound, tbh. Unless you have coupler to measure your own unit and compare with the official target. If you can return or get rid of them, it's better to do that and have the peace of mind. There are at least 3 outstanding IEMs in the P7 bracket this season (e.g., PULA ANVIL114, Juzears 81T, NiceHck NX8) so you have alternatives if you want something for the holiday presents.

i think my P5+2 is going on the chopping block, i cant get them to sound good, dont know if its a tip issue or a power issue, but they just sound dull and lifeless,
I'm really sorry to hear you're having trouble with the P5+2. It can be so frustrating when something doesn’t quite sound the way you expect, especially when you're hoping for that perfect experience. Sometimes the sound quality can indeed be affected by the tips or the source power, so it might be worth experimenting with different eartips or making sure you're using the right amplification for them.

I knew it would happen, although I have yet to try the ThieAudio origin. After that, I can say for sure, but of course, it's a good "Jack of All Trades" IEM for the price. If we don't count the Drums ( Drums on Cantor sound a bit thick ), the timbre tech and resolution are also quite impressive.
