About to get my P5+2s, very curious to see if I can tell the difference with them and the P5s!
Liked them but could only use one shell sadly. Something is messed up with the socket on the left shell, so I can't even insert the 2-pin cable (tried others as well). Sadly have to return! But initial thoughts were that the bass was improved, along with better resolution compared to the p5s

I have had the P5 for over a year. The P5 instantly became my favorite IEM when I received it since I really like very natural sounding IEMs which also have nice clarity and details. I received the P5+2 aka the P7 around a week ago. I really enjoy the P7's improved clarity in the details. The improved clarity is matched by improved bass texture, yet the bass sounded slightly weak when using the stock eartips. The improvements are not night and day. Instead I hear the improvements as being definitely noticeable.

Amazingly, switching to wide bore eartips (Azla SednaEarfitLight eartips) on the P7 increased the slightly weak bass and made the bass sound more textured. The bass no longer is slightly weak and the increased texture was a surprise. Aful is using a "high-damping air-pressure balance system" which features a "air pressure managing catheter tube" with the dual dynamic drivers. I suppose these fancy named systems which are used in the P7 perform the best when coupled with wide bore eartips. I like wide bore eartips since wide bore eartips generally do not stand in the way of being able to hear the details. The P7 and the DaVinci, after doing some eartip rolling and settling on ideal eartips, now are my two favorite IEMs for somewhat different reasons. I still do love the P5 and I am keeping the P5. I simply love the P7 even more.

Isn't p7 with azla light wide bore a little bit too intensive in lower treble? Because i really like this tip but here they improves bass quality and also treble , but also a little more sibilance. it could be my source that possibly not linear in this area and has tendency to give more sibilance. And p7 at the edge here by their self.

It might be your source. After the Azla eartips somewhat pulled up the bass, I am not noticing any sibilance in the treble. I guess I am listening at a very slightly lower volume since the lower end now sounds more full. The bass also seems to be fuller in the higher bass where it begins to merge with the lower midrange. I am not an audiophile. I am not sure if I am using the right words to describe it. The upper midrange and the treble do not seem to sound more intense after I switched to the Azla eartips.

Thanks, i will try to get more sources to check as overall i really like this tip. Seems like my dap could be more linear as i noticed it boosting and making a little more sibilant with other iems. Because my goal is the same as yours to get good lower end and calm down or not enhance 6 - 7 k region. Also have you burned in aful 7 at first?

Wearing deeper so that the base of the IEM rest against the concha and the nozzle tip reaches the first bend in ear canal tends to smoothen the treble. It’s shown pretty clearly on the graph when I measured these IEMs.

I should get more shorter tips for testing for this goal. I don't know how flush this iem should be in the ear as now it protrudes outside more than other, but i will experiment more. I should say today even with tips i have and azla short wide it is more smooth, perhaps i am getting used to it or driver burn in going on. Second day i have this iem.

I use the stock medium tips that comes with the IEM. Literally do this pull and twist technique when I wear most IEMs. I find it helpful to get a tight and comfortable seal.

AFUL Friends, I'm new to this thread, but by no means new to AFUL nor Head-fi.

I haven't burned in the P7 since burn-in only affects the sound texture of dynamic drivers if burn-in does anything at all. I have a pretty cheap DAP which I use for outdoor walks. This DAP reduces the bass and slightly reduces the midrange. Any serious listening is done using my desktop amps.

alright so I think I figured something out. I was trying both my Explorer and Performer 5+2 with the Spinfit W1s. I was reading up on this site, where they compare different Spinfit tips. They have this to say for the W1:

SpinFit W1 – a combination of the cap shape which is in between of Omni and CP100 and a bit softer silicone material allowed a deeper insertion that results in extra sub-bass rumble with a bit more relaxed mid-bass, balanced natural mids, and extra sparkle in treble.

So that description sounds great for the Explorer, which could use a little more sparkle in the treble, but I'm afraid that for the P5+2, it's accentuating the treble a little too much to where it could be fatiguing. I really like Spinfit, so I've ordered the Omni and the CP100 to see if I get different results.

Highly recommend the W1 with the Explorer though.
Okay so this is confirmed. Got the CP100+ on the Performer 5+2 and it’s working wonders. They sit further out on my ear slightly, but the treble is tamed and bass is balanced well now. Love this headset, but still love how small and comfortable the Explorer is too.
