Akros is highly praises constructive criticism, his fans are kinda pathetic sometimes.
That’s acceptable I believe

Top IEMs under $300?? AFUL P5+2, ZiiGaat Estrella, and DUNU x Gizaudio DaVinci come right into my mind as recent launches. All three are great performers, and after spending 15 days with them, I am here with a comparison video.

Remind you, all three of these are fantastic performers for the asking price, they offer an amazing listening experience with DUNU excelling in providing a sweet, warm sound, Performer 5+2 promising a well-balanced three-frequency response, and the ZiiGaat Estrella delivering some solid vocals. So which one among these is your favorite??

Thank You

I haven't seen or heard the other two in real life, so, yeah, P7 is my favourite :dt880smile:

I'm still irritated that the designer did not keep the letter width identical across the word "CANTOR".

Is that Eletech Baroque ear tips on the IEM?

I'm having the pleasure to borrow Symphonium X Elise Europa and Symphonium Titan for two weeks. So far, they are like the Symphonium's counterpart of AFUL's Cantor and Performer7. I haven't done serious A/B tests yet, but I think they are going to be interesting comparisons (well, for readers and AFUL, since Symphonium is pretty much loss-loss situation in this comparison. Oh well, "for science", I'd say).

So you bought (or intending to) the p5+2 also, apart from Cantor?!
Get a Aful tattoo next or at least a T-shirt. Hopefully in that Cantor font that annoys you, angry-with-world man.it will be my pleasure to get you that particular font tshirt

As an aside You should also try the budget Sivga Que.
Am still impressed after a month. Wonderful DD timbre, fine bass with that special sauce in the reverb-trail, warm-ish mids and surprisingly, pretty decent treble (with sparkly tonality without harshness but decent extension) going on.

For a first iem, I can't think of a better recco. And it plays higher than that price range too. I don't find myself yanking it off and trying to get to P8 etc. Quite solid.
@Hypops would agree. I got it on his recco. Happy purchase.

Cantor is now in my Top 10 iems, and top iem if we consider the criteria of all BA, well ahead of Supernova and Andromeda. I have not heard the offerings from 64 audio.

I have no doubt that if you end up falling hard for the Cantor, I'll end up following suit.

Meanwhile, my preferred store has stocked up Cantor starrynight.

Oh ho ... Decision time today.

P.S: @o0genesis0o 3.5 better or 4.4?
I prefer 4.4. Physically stronger connector, plus most portable gears bias toward 4.4 anyway, so it's a waste to go 3.5, IMHO. If both outputs sound the same on your DAC, oh well, at least you have a beefy jack. If 4.4mm sounds better, you win. 3.5mm is pretty much lose-lose in this case.

Edit: so, I think the current lineup of AFUL makes sense in the following way:
  • If you want neutral / W-shaped IEM with good technical performance: Cantor
  • If you want V-shaped boom boom fun sound: P7 (P5+2)
  • If you want warm and cozy L shaped sound: Explorer
I'm not sure where to put MagicOne. Maybe midrange specialist? It does not quite sound like the rest of AFUL IEMs.

Fun fact: Explorer, Cantor, and P7 are tuned nearly identically across the midrange all the way to around 5-6kHz.

Testing performer 5+2. I am really impressed by it. It is a serious contender in the mid-fi segment. Pairs very well with mojo 2.

That Mojo 2 is like a skin, adapts any iem/HP you plug with it. I miss mine, but I am happy with the Earmen Angel.
