Hi Guys.

Thanks for the invite to the forum.

I am a mid 40s hi fi seperates enthusiast na dhave a mission vambridge audio acousic audio set up.. Never used headphones much but as family grows around me my pink floyd rock and acoustic interest is increasingly contentious!!
I currently have a pair of £50 akg YT50 closed back headphones.

Decided for first time ever to treat myself to some decent headphones. Want closed back and priority is sound quality, budget 250...all music is played spotify on. S10plus. Mostly at home. Worried open back will leak to much when listening next to partner even quietly .. So is it worth spending more? and open to suggestions on what to buy appreciating its always subjective to a degree. Been thinking px7 or Audio-Technica ATH-M50x or
Philips PH805. Days of reading reviews and more confused than ever!

ATH-M50x is a nice headphone. It sounds fun and is built pretty well. In a few years you will have to replace the pads as they dry up, but other than that they are a great entry-level headphone.

You said vambridge, do you mean Cambridge?
So the headphones are to be used on a Samsung Galaxy S10 plus?
Check out the Audio Technica ATH-ESW9, good prices for used ones on eBay.

I'll be honest, I did not find the M50 very comfortable. The meze 99's are much more comfortable, but I found them a bit flat for what I was looking for. I would recommend them over the M50 however. If you can stretch your budget a bit, a used Fostex X00 would be a very fun headphone. Depending on your source there is also the option of earphones/iems. Especially if you need any portability. There are a lot of good ones in your price range. Hope I didn't make things more complicated!
