Hi!

Ok a friend of mine just ordered a pair of HD650's and since his M-audio Fast Track Pro probably won't power it adequately he's been looking at also getting something along the lines of a Pro-Ject Head Box II.

Will the Head Box do the 650's justice or do you have any other suggestions, looking to spend as little money as possible but let's say a budget of 100-250$.

It would be nice if the amp could be bought from inside the EU to avoid the hassle of shipping half across the globe, customs etc.

He will be using computer->Fast Track->amp->HD650

Is this Foshizzle from MTBR? I am new hear but recognize you from MTBR. What I can tell you is my first rig is the Audio GD C2 amp and DAC19-DSP. The FUN is a replacement for the Audio GD Compass whish is a great DAC/PRE/AMP combo (at least from what I read). Peace.

From my experience the compass definitely doesn't have the grunt to power the HD650.

It's worth taking looking a look at is SheerAudio HA-006 (Dynalo), they sound far better from it then from swing or compass. And it doesn't cost much.

Still HD650s are "meh" even from an amp.

Yep personal experience, I don't own the HD650s but have access to a pair

. Tried em on Compass, Swing and Dynalo. Compass just sounded lazy with no impact and unresolved mids, swing gave them some weight but made them sound even darker. Dynalo is the only amp so far they sounded fine on that I have tried - they have impact and detail and sound listenable.

Still a boring headphone heh. DT250s anyday!

I doubt a WA6 would fit the 100-250$ price range?

Well he went for a Little Dot MK3 and I don't think he'll be disappointed.
