I am currently using hd595/sr225 amped by headsave classic with a marantz cd6000 ose le. It is a very good setup to my ears but i thirst for more. Singlepower mpx slam and akg k701 are the two things in my mind always but when i listened to a MF Xcans V3 and akg k701 , i was impressed. The Xcans V3 is on sales in a local store while the singlepower can only be purchased overseas. So i wonder if the xcan is good enough or should i take the risk to go ahead with singlepower ( online shopping is still risky to me especially a transaction of $800-$900)

And about the akg k701 , i dislike hd650 and neither do i like the dt880. My ideal sound is kinda of in between hd650 and dt880 and not as bright as grado. IS the akg the answer to my 'ideal' sound.

I have heard that the Musical Fidelity headphone amp has had the tubes soldered-in (maybe someone else reading this can verify it one way or the other) and has no 'off' switch (not really a deal-buster, but something to be aware of). If they are indeed soldered-in, this would be a big negative to me -- i like to tube roll.

I have no experience with the Musical Fidelity headphone amps, so I can't comment on the sound. I can tell you that I'm extremely happy with my Singlepower amp and that Mikhail is a good guy to deal with -- very helpful and knowledgeable.
