Hello,
Does anybody have any idea about the ADL STRATOS DAC/AMP ?
I was planning to buy Marantz HD-DAC1 to use with my Sennheiser HD650 but the shop also just had the ADL Stratos on display and they recommended me more then the MARANTZ. All reviews i found on net is Japanese. No reviews on European or US sites. I have no idea how well the unit is reviewed and how well is the components used.
I had a change to listen to it very shortly, sound signature seemed different then Marantz. With more strong and detailed low end but tighter soundstage. Marantz seems to have more spacious soundstage, more space between the instruments, better stereo feel and a bit brighter, however low end is not as strong as the ADL Stratos. Also Marantz has much more expensive looking quality to its design being about %30 cheaper then the ADL .
I do like the Marantz with the 650's .. Just wish the low end was textured and stron as the ADL. It has smooth but bright, open sound that goes well with this cans but incase i switch to another cans in future this sound signature may switch to being over bright where as the ADL may be more well suited then.
DAC specs also better on ADL. And it has a phono input though i dont need at the moment.
So both has plus and negatives and i could not decide yet which one to get.
Any comments will be appreciated
