I was riding the bus yesterday, happily listening to my SR80's when a group of people sat on my right and started having a conversation. Being the nosey person I am, I listened in to most of it, right up until they got off a couple stops later, blah blah introduction to story.
Now, this is where the weird part comes.
After the group of people got off, I went back to listening to my music. That is when I noticed that the volume in the right headphone seemed to be louder than the volume in the left. This is where I start freaking out. I quickley changed tracks to see if it was just the song...no change. I then cranked up the volume and then lowered it back down (I was desperate, okay), still no change. I then tried reversing the headphones (R to L, L to R)...no change. Wait, there was a change, the right phone still sounded louder! It took me a couple seconds to realize this, but the sound level discrepancy I had descovered earlier wasn't the phone, but my ear. I tried to just ignore it, hoping it was a temporary thing, but even 15 minutes later, the sound was just slightly too strong on the right side.
Desperate to solve this problem, I tried to convince myself it was all in my head, and tried to focus on the sound coming out of the left phone...what's this? A change? After 5 minutes or so of focusing my hearing on the left phone, I found that the sound was MUCH closer to center, if not strait on. But why? Then I remembered the group of people next to me. The only sense I can make out of it is that I had focused my hearing to better hear the conversation to my right, which resulted in the sound coming into my right ear to seem louder than that coming in from the left.
For all I know, this is happening all the time and I just never noticed it, but it still scared me pretty bad.
Has anyone else ever had this happen?
