A while back someone commented in a thread(can't find it, but I'm sure it was on Head-Fi) about adjusting the output of the laser on older CD Players to give them a few more years life. Does anyone know this procedure or could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance. (Trying to salvage my garage player for another year or two.)

It must be possible via variable resistor somewhere near with laser head. Maybe it have intensification sameness of screwdriver edge (bill?) to change their value.
See notes/mark on PCB board, maybe they help with details.
