With camping season around the corner I already have my 9+ hour camping playlist made but I'll be outta power before the sun goes down.

I've done some searching in the iPod forums and read complaints about the car charger for the iPod draining or damaging the battery. I've seen add-on rechargeable battery docs and add-on AA battery docs for additional power.

Can anyone comment on the car charger quality? That would be my first choice so I could just let it recharge and be ready for the next round. If the car charger is as bad as the reviews say what would be a good alternative or add on to get extended or additional life?

I take it there is no electrical outlet at the camp site?

Have you considered a power inverter that you can plug into the car cigarette lighter? Instead of using a dedicated iPod car charger, you can charge it via the regular iPod charger plugged into the inverter. I'm sure the inverter is a little more money but it'll give you the option to use other small appliances.
