Anyone have an opinion if this is worth the trouble? I'm guessing that the op-amp upgrade will improve the line-out as well as the HP jack, otherwise it would be a waste.

Also, is Tangent the only distributor for this chip?

I upgraded my old d-12 with the ad8620 and it was a very noticeable upgrade..i recomend you trying it...

the chip can be ordered from AD as a sample, it will cost you 0$

my new d-25 should arrive next week, I will modify it as soon I get it

and post a review, I also want to make a pictorial with instructions.

if you go ahead and modify it please post your impressions since I have not yet moddify a d-25.

also,you can always put back the old opamp if you dont like the ad8620, so it is not a waste and the installation is pretty simple

(remember there are more opamps available from TI and AD as samples

)

good luck

The 8620 can also be PURCHASED directly from AD off their web site. AD provided free samples for for people/companies doing prototyping, hoping to later sell them large quantities. They don't provide samples to support the DIY community. OK, I've just climbed back off my moral high horse

ah yes, free samples... used to do that all the time back in college being a poor EE student

Didn't know that AD was also a distributor, they actually sell in quantities less than 1000?

Now I curious about what other dual channel SOIC op-amps are out there that can run at +/-3 V. I just popped the hood and measured across the op-amp power pins, 6.04 V, with both AC and the Li-ion battery I'm playing with.
