ACTIVO P1 Digital Audio Player - Coming Soon

I prefer the restricted layout, because I want my DAP

Have you ever had the chance to listen to the SP3000? It's sound quality and large 3Dimensional soundstage are out of this world compared to other high end DAC/AMps I've heard. On top of that it's the only DAP I have experienced with a completely black background with zero hiss.
As i am an musician, i want to be as close to the original recording as possible. I don't want an 3D sound stage that is out of this world, i want my source gear to sound transparent and to reproduce exactly the soundstage the original song had, not more and not less.

And an inaudible noise floor is something i expect from every DAP, no matter the price.

I have an SE846 (9 Ohm, 114db/mw) and my cheap 50$ USB Dongle has 1.3uV noise floor on 4.4mm, so absolutely inaudible (its so low, that i can't even measure it even when boosting the noise by 80db).

Not being interested in an "Magic" and "Unique" sound is one of the many reasons i am usually not interested in DAP anymore as most of them are optimized in squeezing out as much voltage as absolutely possible. Somehow everyone on this Forum seems to own an Susvara which they are using on an 600 Ohm Adapter and listen to at 120db and so need that power. And because they are optimized in driving floor standing speakers, they have insanely high distortion with simple IEM (what i use to listen to music).

I don't want to spend an insane amount of money to get worse sound quality that sounds "Special", i just want to hear my music exactly as it is. and it seems the P1 can do exactly that, hence i am interested in it.

What makes you think that the P1 is better than other DAPs (ZX700)? I haven't seen any reviews yet to support that. Just curious if you have actually heard one.

Lower THD+N, Higher SNR, flatter frequency response and lower noise floor.

I'm interested in this also, but I think I'll wait for some reviews before spending $$$. A&K software is questionable, but maybe it will be OK here. Nice to see Play Store support. DX180 is also on my radar, but the small size of the P1 is tempting.

My prized Astell & Kern Billie Jean IEM's just went on the blink :frowning2: The left headphone still has sound but its very quiet. Not sure if its the cable or the actual earpiece. So before I buy the P1 Im going to have to shell out on another set of IEM's.
Would appreciate advice on which of these would be best for it?
Moondrop Aria
Shure SE215
Sennheiser IE200

As you can see Im limited to a small price range, because Im budgeting for the P1 :frowning2:
It may not be available this moment, but I'd wait for the Meze Alba.

Equal fit and comfort to the IE200, but a much better sound.

Better is quite subjective. They are more V-Shaped, which means a lot of songs will sound wronger with the Alba compared to the IE 200

If someone prefers this is highly subjective and can not be summed up with an objective statement like "much better sound". Objectively, the IE 200 are better (and that comes from someone who doesn't like/recommend them)

How much can the system be customized? Can anyone point me in the right direction of some possibilities?
I've been trying out third-party player apps and I can't even launch some of them, like Poweramp, android says "We are sorry. The feature is not provided by thid device" when I try to give it some permissions to storage.
Confirmed this issue will be fixed in a future firmware update. Currently do not have an ETA on when the fix will be available.

The IE200 aren't "objectively" better any more than the Alba are "objectively" better.

It is, however, dare I say *objectively* untrue that the Alba are more V-shaped

Dunu SS Tips are not shipped with the earphone and an personal preference of the reviewer.

I always recommend to smooth the graphs a bit to get rid of the resonance peaks, with the stock tips it looks like this

Both are far from correct but the IE200 has a slightly better bass with an less stronger push in the upper mids. The Alba is more V-Shaped and has, even though its from Romania, this typical Chifi push in the upper mids (that sadly a lot of earphone have these days).

But, again, this discussion does not belong in this thread. Theree are Threads for the IE200 and the Alba, feel free to tag me in any of these threads if you feel like discussing whose of those two is better (again, i do not recommend any of them and there is more to the quality of an IEM than the tuning).

I have both the Alba and IE200 as beater IEMs. Both are crazy comfy and small. I greatly prefer the sound of the Alba over the IE200, but that's not why I commented... The Alba makes a great pairing with the P1 IMO. That combo price for a DAP/IEM would be hard to beat if for comfort, sound quality, and weight. Of course comfort varies from person to person and sound quality is subjective.

It'll ship FedEx International Priority which is 2-3 days to most places in the US, so people can add that whatever shipping delay is posted and get a decent estimate. I preordered, it shipped on the 20th and arrived the 22nd.
