I'm curious if anyone has amp, dac and headphone experience that has them not wanting to buy anything else. They believe what they currently own is the absolute best for them.

It's probably less a case of believing what one has is the absolute best and more being completely satisfied by the sound and feeling the cost for any further potential improvement isn't worth it. That's exactly where I am at the moment and it's a happy place.I'm curious if anyone has amp, dac and headphone experience that has them not wanting to buy anything else. I would say for me at this point yes what I have is more than I need but mostly because of budget constraints. Although I am considering adding an equalizer at some point. That being said if someone handed me a pile of money I might try some different stuff. Then again I might build a dedicated two channel speaker system or buy a new gun lol. Also if I had it to do over again I might make some different choices but only for ease of use. Like instead of getting a Modi 3+ I might get a dac with a volume control and remote.
In reality though none of my hobbies are end game for me. I just like to tinker and try new things. However I have other hobbies that are more important to me than headphones. Like I would probably put money into me computer first if the parts were available. If 3000 series video cards were readily available I probably wouldn't even have bought a headphone amp and dac.

What is your current ideal situation that you feel happy ?It's probably less a case of believing what one has is the absolute best and more being completely satisfied by the sound and feeling the cost for any further potential improvement isn't worth it. Present CD transport / DAC combination is IT. I deliberately went for the “sixer” on the DAC. The CDT / DAC purchase was made as my last such purchase: Audiolab CDT-6000 and Mojo Audio EVO Mystique (pro level)…..almost two years ago.I'm curious if anyone has amp, dac and headphone experience that has them not wanting to buy anything else. I don't want anything else I feel satisfied, at least for the rest of the day.I'm curious if anyone has amp, dac and headphone experience that has them not wanting to buy anything else. They believe what they currently own is the absolute best for them.

Not ‘bestest’, realest. As a parent, I can name many things that I have to hear - about which I may not be too keen…real life sounds bestest

I've been doing audio for a couple of decades now in various forms and have the advantage of knowing what I like and what I don't (others in this hobby/journey are still discovering that for themselves). As such, I just have a stable of equipment of that achieves a wide range of enjoyable sonic signatures with plenty or power and was fortunate to obtain them at prices that make 'upgrading' further not cost effective. I know that there are things out there that may give me even more of what I like, but the cost (both monetarily and for things like comfort/aesthetic appeal) for getting them just doesn't make much sense. What is your current ideal situation that you feel happy ?

I'm content with the latest acquisition, Verum 1 MK2 driven by JDS Adam stack, Amazon
music HD. Currently not looking to upgrade. Continue to keep informed on the latest developments. In addition not looking to spend considerable sums in pursuit of "more". Although a recent member I've been an enthusiast for a minute. First pair of headphones AKG K140 vented, second pair Sony MDR V6 12 years later, followed by Senn 598SE 20 years later, damn I'm old... (9 others since)

I took what Sennheiser 800's do well and ruined the stock signature. Colored the sound like crazy to my liking. It now has bass and voices are more forward. The end result is insane sound stage, beyond comfortable, exciting when watching movies/playing games and voices shine over everything so that when you're talking to people its crystal clear. For me this is my end-game headphone / amp/dac combo.
Beyerdynamic 990 will always have a place in my heart. It was the first pair of headphones I was like WOW. The way I have the HD800's setup now it does feel like biggest upgrade to the 990's.
CEntrance HiFi M8 has a physical way to shape the bass and treble. I feel it already colors the headphones stock without the bass or treble switches.
