I'd like to hear opinions on phones other than Sony V6s and Beyer DT250s which I see mentioned the most for a neutral/analylitcal/reference/production work etc phone. I own a pair of DT250-80Ohm version and find them enjoyable for both recreational listening and mixing/eq-ing type work. But I do experience a lack of upper highs that some mention, also a bump in upper bass makes me a little wary about accuracy of work done with them. I hear the V6s are somewhat opposite, a strong 7-8k peak and scooped upper bass/low mids.
I recall reading about Denon and Roland models but I can't find any useful threads with the search terms I've tried.

Thanks, those seem very cool. Not sure what to make of the freq graph, IIRC there was roland model that had a straighter curve. If nothing else bloody honest of the manufacturer and I'd much rather buy from them than Roland if I have the choice.

Out of curiosity, are you sponsored by GMP in some form or fashion? You post those GMP's in basically every thread regardless of what the OP's qualifications are.

I've heard the DT250's and had similar opinions. I honestly haven't heard enough phones to give you a good recommendation though.

Arent the D240 known for unaccurate responce?
CD900ST looks interesting, "like a refined V6" I'll have to read around about if theyre as usable for audio work as the V6s. Just a little out of my budget.....and with that in mind I dont dare comment the DT48s.
Tell me more about the DT100s

What drama? I was simply asking a question. From what I have personally observed, you frequently mention the GMP's and there's no consistent qualifications in the threads you recommend them in. It struck me as odd and I felt like pointing it out this time. I'm in no way questioning how good the headphones are, but like most other headphones, it's not going to be for everyone. I was mostly commenting on your frequency of recommendation as I felt that you might suggest them in some instances that might not actually be what the person is looking for. I guess if you've read and taken into consideration what the person asked for and still feel those would be the optimal choice for that person, then it's a perfectly valid opinion and does contribute.

As I told you...will be more smart for you to hear them before you jump to conclusions. BTW, this thread is about, accurate/reference phones and if you read my thread on the GMP 8.35 you'll see that they are one of the most accurate/reference phones on the market, especially with the newer pads.

If you don't like the highs on the dt250 you'll definitely find the Equation rolled off....and also a bit more low end than the Beyer...too warm overall, IMO. The Beyer is also more clear and detailed...just better overall, as it should be for the price. BTW, you can get more treble from the Beyer if you remove the foam pad and replace it with a thin piece of cloth. Try the k240DF for an even clearer and more neutral presentation. The DF is way different than the newer k240S or the 240mkII. It's really in another league....but not much low end. Always a compromise at this price point and even above

Be careful what you read over at Gearslutz. Some folks over there would have you believe the v6 is the best/most neutral studio headphone.
