They look like www.woodheadphones.com/product/es-665wn

I got them... :-)

Basic impressions:  They're worth the $100 amazon is charging... but not more.

They sound is relaxed and fun.  But the bass is a bit overblown.  They leave a bit to be desired on resolution too.  Vocals are very nice though.

If you want to spend a little more, the M50 is much better headphone sound-wise.

That said, they do look better than the M50. :-)

Weird detail:  The flat cable (without microphone) sounds a lot better.  Go figure...

100? Wow, glad I got em on sale. On another note, they're a very fun sound. Never tried the flat cable, will do tonight

Sorry, not a clue. These seem to be precariously built as it is. I know straight out the box these never gave me the impression they're solidly built, so I'd probably enjoy the sound as it is, but then again I have more articulate options.

These are extremely funny cans. I think they are a very viable option for those who never got Sony MDR-XB700s before they were discontinued. I think that these lie somewhere in between XB500 and XB700. Also, they look 10x hotter, :)

Yes, they have elevated bass, but that is probably the intention. I don't think they aim for neutrality and resolution here. I enjoy mine a lot, and when they wear out I hope they're still available, because these are now my fun cans over the partially retired XB700s.

Hmm, that reminds me, I should compare these to my xb500. I got a refurbished pair for 30 about a week b4 the price hikes.

Gary,
Aren't we being a bit critical? I know he won't win any Academy Awards, but this is free info that someone has taken their time and effort without any compensation to help us make better buying decisions. I do agree with you, I just wouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

Regards,
Dave
